I think it is fair to say that a huge portion of the population was leaping for joy this week when pubs were allowed to reopen their doors to the public. When the government announced the roadmap for easing measures which included pubs could reopen on 17th May 2021, search queries related to Pubs went up by 256% and search queries for child-friendly pubs shot up by over 1000%. This data is available via Google Trends.

So off the back of this data, we decided to run a study of the best cities in the UK for child-friendly pubs.

Below is a map image of the results.

Newcastle was crowned the UK’s best city for the best child-friendly pubs, beating out 13 other UK hotspots including Manchester, Birmingham and London.

Oh, and as for Newcastle’s best child-friendly spot? The Earl Of Pitt Street topped the list. They were exceptional across the board with a phenomenal amount of 5-star reviews.

Below is the list of the UK’s best cities for child-friendly pubs in order based on their ratings:

When conducting this study we calculated our results based on the following factors:

1 – Number of 5* Reviews, 4*, 3*, 2*, 1* reviews and averaged them all to get the best and worst.

2 – Price

3 – Outdoor seating availability

4 – If they have children’s menu and how extensive is the menu

5 – Do they have any indoor children’s games (even if it is just crayons and a colouring book due to covid restrictions)

6 – Outdoor play spaces

As well as calculating the best cities across the UK for child-friendly pubs, we also studied the best individual child-friendly pubs across the country.

So without further ado, below are the best child-friendly pubs across the country

The number 1 child-friendly pub in the whole of the UK was Sheffield’s The Devonshire Arms which had exceptional results in almost all areas. Southampton’s The Bungle Inn and Manchesters The Midway came second and third respectively.

So if you have been desperate to get to the pub in the UK which welcomes children with open arms, you now have all the info you need to find the best one for you.
